Enviroment
We implement a sustainable environmental management model at our marina, but we rely on users support to ensure that our efforts to conserve and improve the environment have a successful outcome.
CLEAN FACILITIES
• Keep port facilities clean.
• Try to create as little rubbish as possible. Avoid buying over-packaged and disposable products.
• Keep the rubbish you produce on your boat.
• Separate your rubbish and other waste and discard in the waste disposal bins. If you are not sure how the bins work or which is the right bin for any particular waste, check with port staff.
• Close bins after use.
• If the bins show any signs of leaks, cracks or damage, please report to port staff immediately.
• Take hazardous wastes to the bin with utmost caution.
• A good way to find out if a product is hazardous or not is to check the packaging to see whether there are any hazard symbols.
• Dispose of hazardous wastes (left-over paint, dirty impregnated rags, oil, batteries, oil filters, empty containers that contained hazardous substances, solvents and fluorescent products) in the appropriate bin or at the nearest recycling and waste disposal area.Never dispose of hazardous waste in general rubbish bins.
• Use the bins appropriately and keep them in good working order.
• Do not move the bins.
CLEAN WATER
• Do not pour any liquid into the sea from quays or piers. Liquids should be poured down the drain or disposed of at special waste collection sites, depending on the type of liquid.
• Use biodegradable detergents and avoid using phosphate-based detergents.
• Boats must have a sewage holding tank. The contents must be emptied at the port's facilities and never be dumped straight into the sea.
• Empty bilge water using the system provided at the port. Never empty bilge water into the sea. It must be managed as hazardous waste and be collected by an authorised agent.
CLEAN BOATS
• Respect the environment when casting off, mooring and navigating inside the port.
• Manoeuvre your boat in a respectful manner, avoiding sudden changes in speed and direction. This will prevent the seabed sediment from being stirred up and reduce noise levels in the port, helping to conserve our marine ecosystem.
• Remember that you cannot exceed the 3-knot speed limit indicated in the port.
• Ask at the port offices how you should dispose of waste that has accumulated on board.
• Use the toilets, changing rooms and other basic services at the port instead of using your boat's facilities.
• Dispose all household waste generated in the boat in the right bins before setting sail.
• Only use water to wash down decks.
SUSTAINABLE USE OF FUEL
• Keep your engine off whenever possible.
• Avoid using poor-quality lubricants, because low quality means worse operation and performance and therefore higher fuel consumption.
• Keep your boat engine properly serviced and adjusted.
• Keep the filters clean. Dirty filters use more fuel.
• Monitor fuel use. If there is an unjustified increase in fuel consumption, check engine adjustments and the general condition of the engine.
